Symposium 9 will be focused on how social media enables new ways of working. The last symposium on the future of work in year 2020 made it clear that social media is already and will enable better and different types of collaboration and even begin to take the place of the "water cooler" to bind dispersed workers. The emphasis will not primarily be on the technology – if for no other reason than that anything we’d say about technology will be quickly out of date. So we think our unique contribution lies in thinking about what you can do with the technology. This would include a discussion of what’s working so far, how effective is it, and what can be expected in the near future.
We are planning to invite a panel of 3-4 social media experts to attend the symposium and comment on different aspects. A white paper will be written based on the discussion at the symposium.
Thanks to Jones Lang LaSalle's hospitality, the symposium will be at their headquarters, near the Loop, the heart of Downtown Chicago, and walking distance of the lake front, Millennium Park, and the fabulous Chicago Art Institute. We will NOT be reserving blocks of rooms, but the Fairmont Hotel is conveniently located nearby.
Costs for the symposium are included for New WOW members, but all attendees must pay $300 for food and beverages, which includes all meals from Sunday evening through Wednesday lunch. The fees for the symposium for non-members is $900.
We look forward to seeing you at the symposium to discuss this very timely topic.
