Davenport: A strategic approach to rethinking knowledge work

In it, Thomas Davenport maintains that knowledge workers have varying information needs and the key to better productivity is applying technology more precisely. Here’s a summary of some of his main points:
“After researching the productivity of knowledge workers for years, I’ve concluded that organizations need a radically different approach,” Davenport writes. He suggests it is time for companies to develop a strategy for knowledge work, one that examines work on a much more granular level.
